What’s New in StoreSome of our stores even have a snapshot of their Twitter account on their store page. While not every store has a Twitter, the stores that do will post new products, restocked products, and sales, from glass screens to new heady pieces from local artists. Consider this a live feed of everything new in store!

We’re back and accepting orders, just in time for the holidays.  We’ve streamlined our existing product line and are proud to finally introduce our new exclusive Island Dyes line, which brings 11 new water pipes to the table.  These new water pipes are only available in Island Dyes retail locations and on our website.  With our new product line comes a sweet new label (available in 3 new colors) commemorating our more than 25 years serving North Carolina, Virginia, and D.C.:

As you’ve probably noticed, we’re currently not accepting orders on the IslandDyes.net website.  The good news is we’re currently revamping our product line and will have a bunch of new products available soon.  So while we do apologize for the inconvenience of being unable to place orders right now, rest assured that it’s a necessary step for us to get everything ready for some kick-ass new products!  Be sure to stay tuned to our blog for more details as they become available.

You may have noticed our website may not have been displaying properly for a brief period of time which may have prevented orders from being placed.  We just wanted to let you know that this was due to a recent security update on our servers that is now complete.  As always, we are committed to providing you with a safe and secure shopping experience and may periodically apply new security updates in the future that will result in minimal downtime.  For more information on the safety measures we employ on the Island Dyes website, please visit our page about Secure Shopping.

Big changes are coming to the Island Dyes online store! While we have decreased the number of products offered on the website, this has enabled us to drop the prices on ALL of our products. We’ve also added a few newcomers to the mix and are planning to add a bunch of new products to the site within the near future.

Also, please note that due to the high volume of orders at this time of year, orders may take up to 7-10 business days to process before shipping.   All of our items are made by hand, so please bear with us while we prepare your orders. Shipping times can range from 1-6 business days.  The time it takes between when your order gets placed and when your new tube arrives at your doorstep is equal to the processing time (7-10 business days) PLUS the time it takes to ship (1-6 business days).  It is not unusual during this time for orders to take as many as 2 weeks to arrive.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  If you have any additional questions about shipping, be sure to visit our page of Frequently Asked Questions.

We’ve recently implemented a number of additional security measures to further protect our customers. However, as a result, some customers’ cards have been declined despite having enough money in their accounts. We’d like to take this opportunity to remind our customers that if this ever happens to you when placing an order, please contact us immediately.  Do not attempt to charge your card again.

I placed an order on your website while I was out of the country and my card was declined. Why?

Even if you are placing an order with your U.S. issued credit/debit card and having it shipped to a U.S. address our system is configured to prevent your card from being processed if it detects that you are ordering from a foreign IP address.  This is yet another measure we have in place to prevent fraudulent transactions.

Do you accept Paypal?

We do not accept Paypal as a form of payment at this time.  We currently process our payments securely via Authorize.net.  For more information on how we process your payment, please click here.

Can I use a prepaid credit card to make a purchase on the website?

Yes, HOWEVER, you must know the zip code associated with the prepaid card and enter it as your billing zip code at checkout.

Why must I know the billing zip code?

This is yet another security measure we employ to protect against fraudulent transactions.  Little to no consumer protections exist for prepaid credit cards, which means it is very easy for someone to steal your prepaid card and use it without ever getting caught.  By being required to provide the zip code associated with the prepaid card, we can effectively limit most unauthorized transactions.

In addition, prepaid cards are a favorite for credit card thieves because it enables them to incur the greatest charges in the shortest period of time.  Stolen credit cards are often used at unsuspecting retailers to purchase prepaid cards.

How do I find out the billing zip code for my prepaid card?

It varies from gift card to gift card, however some retailers will prompt you for a zip code when you pay for the card at the register.  If you did not provide this information, you will need to register your card online on the issuer's website or call customer service.  If you received the prepaid card as a gift, be sure to ask the person who gave it to you if they provided a zip code when purchasing your gift card, otherwise you will need to register the card yourself.  Certain cards such as Green Dot cards require you to register your card online or by phone before you can even use it, so your billing zip code will be the one you provided upon registration.  For specific instructions regarding prepaid cards issued by major providers, see below.

AMEX (American Express) Prepaid Cards

Includes: American Express Prepaid Gift Cards, American Express Serve Card (Updated: July 11, 2015)

American Express has two types of prepaid cards: prepaid gift cards and the American Express Serve card.  Although the American Express Gift Card website says you can use your gift card to make online purchases, it does not instruct you on how to register your gift card to attach a zip code to it.  We recommend calling customer service if you need to obtain or establish a zip code for your gift card.  As for the American Express Serve card, it operates much like a Green Dot card in that it requires online or phone registration before card activation and will prompt you for a billing address/zip code during this process.

Discover Prepaid Cards

Please note: As of April 30, 2015, Discover is no longer issuing any more prepaid gift cards. If your gift card was purchased prior to April 30, 2015, you will still be able to make purchases as long as you have a remaining balance.  You can still purchase a small variety Discover Prepaid Debit Cards.

Discover prepaid cards are usually restricted to certain retailers; however, if by some chance you have or are able to obtain a Discover prepaid card that is not limited to a particular retailer or network, their website seems to anticipate customers having problems with address verification online and encourages customers to call customer service to ensure an address is associated with their card.

Mastercard Prepaid Cards

Why was my card declined? I have enough money!

We have a number of security measures in place to protect our customers, some of which may cause your card to be declined even if you have enough money in your account. If you believe your card was declined in error, please do NOT try to run your card again. Instead, give us a call.  If you continue to try to charge your card after it has already been declined, you may inadvertently become blocked in our system and it will be more difficult to pinpoint exactly what went wrong once you get in touch with us.

Common Reasons Credit/debit Cards Get Declined:

Reason How to Prevent
Address Mismatch Make sure that your billing address on the checkout page matches the address on file for your card.
Prepaid card not activated Sometimes prepaid cards can be tricky. The best way to make sure your prepaid card will not be declined is to try to use it elsewhere first to make sure it works.
Large purchase Your bank may have security settings that automatically decline transactions that they deem suspicious because they are over a certain amount (in some cases over $500). If your card is declined, it's a safe bet to call your bank to double-check.
